Adam Jones "Confident" Terence Newman Returns

The Cincinnati Bengals are doing a fine job retaining most of their own players, which includes Terence Newman, who could make a decision on Friday.

Adam Jones. Done. Terence Newman. Next. Andre Smith. Eventually.

Newman went to twitter Monday to describe the current thought process, saying that his agent Ben Dogra was still speaking with Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie and the princess of the Brown family, Katie Blackburn, who is currently the team's Executive Vice President.

That's the breakdown. Oakland vs. Cincinnati. After Carson Palmer, draft picks, Hue Jackson and Thomas Howard (to start), the Bengals have clearly had their way with Oakland; though unfortunately they tabbed defensive tackle Pat Sims (call it a sympathy allowance). Where does Newman, who claims he's just after a Super Bowl, go?

Adam Jones thinks he returns.

Geoff Hobson writes that "after having a long conversation" with free agent cornerback Terence Newman, "Jones is confident" that Newman will return for a second season with the Cincinnati Bengals.

If Newman returns, it solidifies Cincinnati's cornerback roster with Leon Hall, Jones, Newman and Dre Kirkpatrick leaving doubt about the necessity of Jason Allen's stay in Cincinnati. However we figure that if the Bengals are without pressing money matters, they'll keep Allen as long as they can to ensure depth.
