Despite having more pressing needs on offense, getting Richardson this deep in the first round is excellent value. He is a top ten player in this draft, in my opinion. Also, with the draft still deep at positions of needs for the Rams at linebacker, wide receiver and offensive line, it was easier to go with the best player available approach.

Richardson will fit into the Rams 4-3 defense perfectly as a 3 technique defensive tackle. He is a athletic freak of nature but also plays with a very high motor. He is very quick off the snap and tends to make tackles 15 plus yards down field, which you don't see very often from defensive tackles. Adding Richardson to a defensive line with Michael Brockers, Chris Long and Robert Quinn could give the Rams potentially the best defensive line in the NFL.
