NFL Draft 2013: Final First-Round Mock Draft

After four months of draft preparations, we survived mock draft season and the real deal is finally here. In my final mock, I decided to include trades because I think boards will be scattered and values will be different with each team; we could see more than ten trades on Thursday alone. I have three Quarterbacks going round one, and Geno Smith isn’t the first to go.

1. Kansas City Chiefs - Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
2. Jacksonville Jaguars - Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon
3. *TRADE (OAK)* - Arizona Cardinals - Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
4. Philadelphia Eagles - Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
5. *TRADE (DET)* - San Diego Chargers - Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
6. Cleveland Browns - Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
7. Oakland Raiders (from ARI) - Ezekial Ansah, DE, BYU
8. Buffalo Bills - Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse
9. New York Jets - Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
10. Tennessee Titans - Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
11. Detroit Lions (from SD) - Jonathan Cooper, OG, UNC
12. Miami Dolphins - Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
13. New York Jets - Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
14. Carolina Panthers - Shariff Floyd, DT, Florida
15. New Orleans Saints - Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
16. St. Louis Rams - Chance Warmack, G, Alabama
17. Pittsburgh Steelers - Sheldon Richardson, DL, Mizzou
18. Dallas Cowboys - Sylvester Williams, DT, UNC
19. New York Giants - D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
20. *TRADE (CHI)* - Atlanta Falcons - Datone Jones, DE, UCLA

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Johnathan Cyprien, S, FIU

I go with Johnathan Cyprien here because the Bengals usually address their biggest need early in the draft and this year that is safety. Cyprien and Vaccaro are the only two Tier One safeties in this draft and there’s a decent gap to the next four prospects of Swearinger, Elam, Reid and Rambo. The only hang-up I have with this pick is the Bengals history of drafting from big schools. If they continue that trend, I think Reid fits what they’re looking for. Although I think that would be a mistake to be that shortsighted. I have them taking the superior prospect. Cyprien can play in the box and deep zone. He’s a well-rounded safety that plays with unmatched aggression. He would allow the Bengals full flexibility in the secondary when interchanging safeties.

22. St. Louis Rams - DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
23. *TRADE (MIN)* San Francisco 49ers - Jesse Williams, DL, Alabama
24. *TRADE (IND)* Denver - D.J. Hayden, CB, Houston
25. Minnesota Vikings - Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee

26. Green Bay Packers - Xavier Rhodes, CB/S, Florida State

27. Houston Texans - Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State
28. Indianapolis Colts (from DEN) - Tank Carradine, DE, Florida State
29. *TRADE (NE)* Philadelphia Eagles - E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State
30. Chicago Bears (from ATL) - Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State
31. Minnesota Vikings (from SF) - Manti Te'o, ILB, Notre Dame
32. Baltimore Ravens - Matt Elam, S, Florida

Questions and comments are always welcome.
