Roughly at the same time that the Bengals announced that they've claimed quarterback John Skelton, the team also announced that linebacker Vincent Rey has signed his tender as an exclusive rights free agent on Wednesday. The team originally placed the tender on Rey on March 7 with a deal that projects at $550,000 during his third season in the NFL.
Rey increased his role on defense for the Bengals last season, logging 18 tackles with a sack, and he ranked third on the team in special teams tackles (12). He first saw action for the Bengals in 2010, as a college free agent signee, and he has played in every Cincinnati game the last two seasons, including two postseason appearances.
Rey is one of 23 players participating in this year's Investment for Impact program later this month.
The program includes keynote speakers and panel discussions featuring academic experts and corporate executives, as well as a business planning workshop, a session matching players with faculty mentors, a "venture fair," and a trip to the Annual Notre Dame Blue-Gold Football Scrimmage.
