Defensive tackle Devon Still replaces Geno Atkins

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins is human after all.

According to Geoff Hobson with Bengals.com, Atkins sat during Wednesday's practice. Though this wouldn't cause the world from spinning on its axis (unless Atkins demanded it), something like this is non-news for late May. Yet we figured the point of interest is that Devon Still was the replacement on the first-team defense.

Then again, even that's not surprising, considering that Still has been the logical backup as a three-technique defensive tackle, further assuming that Brandon Thompson would be your "Pat Sims" replacement.

Or maybe it's just interesting to us. Stop looking at me.

Still is a second-year player as a second-round pick from the 2012 NFL draft. After playing the first half of the season last year, he was inactive for the rest of the season when Sims was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list.
