The Cincinnati Bengals have officially concluded their first week of Training Camp and though it was a short session, another important player left practice with a significant injury.
+The story of the day on Thursday was the ankle injury to wide receiver Andrew Hawkins. Though he told his older brother Artrell Hawkins that he believes it's nothing more than a high ankle sprain, we all need to wait for the results of an MRI he is undergoing Thursday evening. Bengals.com editor Geoff Hobson predicts that this type of injury would put Hawkins out until the regular season opener.
+Cincy Jungle's own Andrew Miller (@AndrewFoxMiller) was at Thursday's practice and shot us a bunch of updates via Twitter. He initially noted a strong turnout for practice at Paul Brown Stadium:
Impressive turnout so far. #Bengals pic.twitter.com/4Xj2EA8t1G

Estimated crowd 6,500 Family Night

+Hobson noted before practice that offensive tackle Andre Smith was inactive for Thursday's practice, but as it commenced, Miller showed us a picture of him in pads:

+Through the dismay that was shown at the time that Hawkins went down, Miller captured a nice moment for kids at PBS, getting pictures with "Who Dey", the team's mascot.

+In other disheartening injury news, tight end Jermaine Gresham was held out of Thursday's practice with a hamstring issue:

+And now for some other on-field highlights at Thursday's practice:
Sanu gets a catch after running a quick curl and visibly frustrating Dre Kirkpatrick on coverage.

Taylor Mays gets an a athletic interception. Pass intended for Whalen up the sideline. Dalton essentially threw into double coverage

Josh Johnson a bit underwhelming as a paser today. Broke out for a few nice runs. Skelton taking snaps now.

I don't think I've seen a missed field goal between Nugent and Sharp. At 45 yards now. @whodeyweekly

Spoke too soon. Nugent missed wide left on a 55-yarder.

Eifert can take a hit. Kirkpatrick, Mays, and Shawn Williams collectively swarmed him causing a massive collision. No scares. Just football

Practice was short. Ended 5 minutes ago. A lot of special teams work today.
— Andrew Miller (@AndrewFoxMiller) August 1, 2013
One fan orchestrated the entire west side of the stadium chanting "who dey!" as players break their final team huddle.
