Andrew Hawkins doesn't believe that he'll require surgery

Hawkins has been out nearly two weeks after a diving catch, which resulted in a player stepping on his foot and spraining his ankle.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Andrew Hawkins won't require surgery at this point, the receiver told beat writers on Monday.

Hawkins will be wearing a hard cast on his left ankle for at least another week, but expects to be back this season without speculating how much time he'll miss.

Marvin Lewis told reporters this weekend that Hawkins is a candidate for the Injured Reserve list with a designation to return.

That being said, everyone hurt right now is a candidate for that designation, including Brandon Thompson, who is dealing with a knee injury. So obviously Lewis would add that much, considering the uncertain nature and recovery regarding Hawkins' ankle.
