The top underpaid players for the Bengals

We take a quick look at the top underpaid Bengals players.

USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker James Harrison is one of the most underpaid players in the league this year. That from a Forbes look at player contracts compared to their respective AV rating from Pro Football Reference. Harrison signed a two-year deal worth $4.45 million with a $1.2 million signing bonus, and several game roster bonuses throughout the life of the contract. The irony is that Harrison would have received far more money if he had accepted Pittsburgh's proposal for a pay-cut.

Who are some of the other underpaid players?

GENO ATKINS: Atkins is still playing on his rookie deal, entering the fourth and final season this year. His base salary is only worth $1.4 million this season. Atkins originally signed a four-year deal worth $3.2 million with a $472,450 signing bonus. Soon, he'll be completely out of the underpaid discussions.

A.J. GREEN: Like Atkins, Green is playing under his four-year rookie contract. However, unlike Atkins, Green signed one of the more richer contracts from the 2011 draft class as the fourth overall pick. Green has a base salary of $2.2 million this season and $3 million in 2014. Considering how much Green does for this offense, it's no where close to his true value.

JERMAINE GRESHAM: Only scheduled to earn $975,000 in base salary this season, which isn't so bad for a fourth-year tight end already with 172 receptions, 1,804 yards receiving, and 15 touchdowns under his belt.

ANTHONY COLLINS: Probably not "underpaid" in the grande scheme of things as a backup, Collins is a rock solid and dependable tackle with growing experience as a guard. He's schedule to earn just over $2 million on the final year of a two-year deal.

ANDY DALTON: Let's see. A 19-13 regular season record with passing numbers that's touching league history (such as touchdowns thrown in the first two years)? Sure. And for only $1.4 million in base salary this year? Granted. Another player under a rookie contract, it's still a friendly contract for the Bengals.
