Madden 25 is set to release on Tuesday, and publisher EA Sports has recently revealed their player ratings for every NFL team. We've already addressed how Bengals players stacked up on offense in Madden 25, so feel free to download the Excel file of Madden's final 2013 roster list or simply review the Bengals defense with us right here on Cincy Jungle.
Before listing out the player ratings, a few quick observations:
- James Harrison is the highest rated linebacker according to the folks behind Madden 25. His rating was greatly assisted by his score of 90 on awareness; a stat usually inflated with veterans (Whitworth also had 90 awareness in the offensive ratings). For what it's worth, Harrison was a 93 overall in last year's Madden 13.
- When you put the Harrison rating into context, Burfict's rating is a substantial tier lower as the second highest rated linebacker. Either way, he is easily the most improved Madden player on the Bengals when compared to last season; He was given a 56 overall for Madden 13.
- Even though he's recently been released by the Bengals, I included Aaron Maybin as a conversation piece.
- Wallace Gilberry seems to be a bit underrated at 70 overall -- which is also what rookie Margus Hunt is rated overall. Gilberry's rating shouldn't be too much of a surprise considering he's not as widely known. I expect a bump in the his rating as the 2013 season progresses.
- It's interesting that George Iloka was rated as the worst safety on the roster but was leading the roster battle throughout the offseason before injuring his wrist.
- Punter Kevin Huber finally appeared on the ratings list after the defensive player update. His overall rating is 84.
