Bengals Release RB Daniel Herron and OT Dennis Roland

The cuts are slowly coming through and the Bengals have Roland and Herron.

According to a source through Pro Football Talk, the Cincinnati Bengals have released running back Daniel Herron and offensive tackle Dennis Roland.

This marks the second time that Herron has been released by the Bengals during final cuts. Last year he was signed onto the team's practice squad after a mediocre preseason. This year Herron led the team in rushing (at one point the entire league) with impressive preseason.

Herron was in a position battle against sixth-round rookie Rex Burkhead, who you can safely assume has made the 53-man roster. If he goes unclaimed through waivers, Herron could return to the team's practice squad.

Roland had spent five seasons with the Bengals and played in every regular season game dating back to 2009, initially as the starting right tackle before his playing time quickly evaporated as a sixth linemen in jumbo packages.

A run mauler but a liability in pass protection, Roland initially signed onto the Bengals practice squad in 2008 and was eventually promoted to the team's active roster later that year. Roland signed a one-year deal in March as an unrestricted free agent.
