The Cincinnati Bengals announced that they've placed defensive tackle Larry Black, who suffered a dislocated ankle last week, on waived/injured list. This is completely procedural. Once he clears waivers, the Cincinnati native will be placed on the team's Injured Reserve list -- most likely tomorrow. We pointed out on Tuesday that Black was expected to sent to Injured Reserve on Wednesday.
Black signed with the Bengals as a college free agent following the 2013 NFL draft. The defensive tackle out of Indiana played 48 games in college, generating 127 tackles, eight quarterback sacks, 27.5 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, four passes broken up and even one blocked field goal.
He received some praise from head coach Marvin Lewis and defensive line coach Jay Hayes, but his prospects of making the 53-man roster weren't good. Not with Geno Atkins, Domata Peko, Devon Still and Brandon Thompson expected to make the cut.
Hard Knocks detailed his injury and the heart-breaking affect it had on him.
