The weather was beautiful around Cincinnati, with a comfortable breeze off the Ohio River. Andrew Whitworth, Andre Smith, Taylor Mays, Vontaze Burfict, and Rey Maualuga joined the Packers captains at midfield. Green Bay won the coin toss, electing to defer, marking the first time this year that the Bengals would open the game on offense.
It was a balanced drive of perfection, which would wind up being Cincinnati's best all afternoon during the Bengals 34-30 win over the Green Bay Packers.
Nine plays and 77 yards into the drive, Andy Dalton flips the football to running back Giovani Bernard. The rookie targets the front right pylon and turns the edge. Anticipating the hit nearly three yards shy of the endzone, Giovani leaps and flips his body in mid-air. The football ninja extends his right arm through the endzone, breaking the plain of the goalline (while kissing the grass) and scoring the game opening touchdown to take a 7-0 lead.
