UPDATE YOUR FANTASY TEAMS NOW! Offensive tackle Andre Smith is listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against the Cleveland Browns.
Smith sprained his ankle during Mohamed Sanu's 19-yard touchdown against Jacksonville last week. He's been sporting a protective boot over the last few days and the team's short-week didn't offer the greatest hope that Smith would be ready for Thursday's game.
Marshall Newhouse, who played a season-high 46 snaps in his place against the Jaguars, only allowed one quarterback pressure last week and earned positive Pro Football Focus Grades in pass protection and as a run blocker, is figured to start in Smith's place... If Smith doesn't play. (Is anyone actually expecting him to at this stage?)
It's been a struggle for Smith this year, who submitted solid performances against the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans, but took a major nose-dive against the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts. Smith also leads the team with six accepted penalties -- three offensive holds and three false starts.
Running back Giovani Bernard (hip and clavicle) and linebacker Rey Maualuga (hamstring) are also listed as doubtful against the Browns.
