Bengals RB Giovani Bernard absent during Wednesday's practice

Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard suffered a hip injury during Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. He wasn't seen during Wednesday's practice.

Running back Giovani Bernard walked off the field with more than seven minutes remaining when Cincinnati defeated the Baltimore Ravens. It still feels good saying that. This actually marked the final play for Bernard last Sunday, finishing with a team-high 45 yards rushing.

By Monday afternoon, it was believed that Bernard's injury wasn't significant but it's also been somewhat quiet on the Bernard front.

During Wednesday's practice, Bernard wasn't even seen... not even for some side work on the rehab field, where linebacker Rey Maualuga and Kevin Zeitler worked. Per the team's official injury and practice report, Bernard was an obvious DNP (Did Not Practice) with the injury listed as a "hip", while still not fully recovered from a recent shoulder injury.

Tomorrow will offer the biggest insight into Bernard's weekend itinerary. For now, we'll view him as questionable. If Bernard is unable to play this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, figure that Rex Burkhead will fill in while Jeremy Hill gets the start.

Andrew Whitworth (birth of his daughter) and Carlos Dunlap (illness) were also absent during Wednesday's practice.
