Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Wallace Gilberry caught the bug.
According to ESPN NFL reporter Bob Holtzman, Gilberry required a pregame IV as he picked up the flu as well. He becomes the ninth player that's reportedly caught an illness this week, ranging from the stomach bug, to a sinus infection and even the flu. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was sent home on Wednesday, while tight end Jermaine Gresham joined him. Both players returned as full participants on Thursday. Placekicker Mike Nugent sat on Thursday with something and was limited on Friday. He's listed as probable.
And those were the less serious scenarios.
Cornerback Terence Newman was out all week with an illness and safety Reggie Nelson, who sat on Wednesday and Thursday, started putting in some work on Friday in a limited capacity. Adam Jones and Clint Boling were hit with it on Friday but while Boling is probable, Jones is questionable. Nelson, Newman and Chris Lewis-Harris, who began fighting the illness on Thursday, are also listed as questionable.
Holtzman reported on Saturday night that some players wore masks to avoid the bug.
With 8 players ill this week (4 of them listed as questionable) #Bengals took no chances..I'm told some players wore masks on flight to Pitt
