Before the first quarter is even through, the Bengals are already dealing with injuries to two notable players. Special-teams ace and third-string running back Cedric Peerman left with a head injury suffered on a kickoff-return by Adam Jones.
Peerman was attempting to setup a block for Jones when he was blasted
After it was initially called a head injury with a 'questionable' return status, Peerman was ruled out with what was determined to be a concussion. That's a tough blow for the Bengals special teams, as Peerman is involved in nearly every unit. Whether it's setting up a block or making a tackle, Peerman has been very reliable for Cincinnati.
Also, tight end Jermaine Gresham left with a back injury also suffered in the first quarter. He was deemed questionable to return. If he's out, that means h-back Ryan Hewitt needs to step up with Kevin Brock working mostly as a blocking tight end.
