Vikings will interview 49ers OC Greg Roman on Saturday

The Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to interview San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Saturday.

USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman will meet with the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday for the vacant head coaching position.

Roman has worked with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco, and then Andrew Luck at Stanford. The Vikings, facing many questions this offseason at quarterback, could figure to go with someone that has an eye for developing quarterbacks rather than a defensive mind at this point. We're just speculating.

Recent reports have Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles being two of the three finalists for the job. Per general manager Rick Spielman, those finalists will head to Minnesota to meet with ownership at some point after this weekend.

Zimmer also met with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday. According to the NFL Network, Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has emerged as the leading candidate in Tennessee. Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell and San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt are also candidates, along with Zimmer.
