Multiple assistant coaches that are coaching in the Bengals and Chargers wild card game this weekend, are generating significant interest for the Detroit Lions, who fired head coach Jim Schwartz last Monday.

According to ESPN, the "Detroit Lions head coaching job is Ken Whisenhunt's to lose". Mike Zimmer and Jay Gruden have been mentioned as drawing significant interest.

Especially Gruden:

Detroit's coaching wish list also includes Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, sources told ESPN. The Bengals host Whisenhunt and the Chargers on Sunday in the AFC wild-card round.

Zimmer is generating the most interest in Washington and both have been mentioned as candidates in Washington.

Assistant coaches on playoff teams playing this weekend (like Whisenhunt, Zimmer and Gruden) aren't allowed to interview for possible head coaching positions until Jan. 12.
