NFL Power Rankings Week 6

New, comments

My stab at ranking the 32 teams in the NFL after Week 6.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

It is interesting watching the fluctuation in the rankings week to week. After week one it looked like the Broncos were the only decent team in the AFC West and now they sit behind the Chargers in the NFL Standings. The NFC East also looked like a bad division and they have two 5-win teams.

Here are the week 6 rankings:

NFL Team Wins Losses Ties Rank Previous Rank Blurb
Denver Broncos 4 1 0 1 1 As there is constant shakeup at the top, the Broncos continue to roll on offense.
San Diego Chargers 5 1 0 2 3 It was a tight game but the Chargers showed guts in a strong road win.
Dallas Cowboys 5 1 0 3 7 The Cowboys have really impressed, going into Seattle and leaving with a win is rare.
Arizona Cardinals 4 1 0 4 4 Carson Palmer returned and the Cardinals continue to win.
Philadelphia Eagles 5 1 0 5 6 The Eagles did not let the Giants hang around in this one and the defense punished Eli Manning.
Indianapolis Colts 4 2 0 6 9 The Colts failed to put the Texans away when they had a big lead. They were lucky to win this game.
Seattle Seahawks 3 2 0 7 2 We see the flaws in the team that looked unbeatable week one.
San Francisco 49ers 4 2 0 8 8 They spotted the Rams 14 points but then turned on the gas for an easy win.
Cincinnati Bengals 3 1 1 9 5 Giving up 90 points in two weeks is not what is expected of this defense. Anyone blaming Dalton needs to get a grip.
Baltimore Ravens 4 2 0 10 10 The Ravens look to be finding their stride and are looking like a pretty scary team.
Green Bay Packers 4 2 0 11 11 Aaron Rodgers needed a fake spike to push past the Dolphins, it kind of reminded me of classic Favre.
New England Patriots 4 2 0 12 12 It looks like the Bengals were the medicine that may have cured their ailments.
Detroit Lions 4 2 0 13 13 The only team to help take the spotlight off Mike Nugent. The offense is surprisingly bad.
Cleveland Browns 3 2 0 14 20 Has to feel good for the Browns to take the Steelers to the woodshed and place them firmly in the basement of the division.
Carolina Panthers 3 2 1 15 16 Cam Newton could have run all day on the Bengals.
Chicago Bears 3 3 0 16 24 A good win for the Bears in Atlanta where the Falcons play pretty well.
Kansas City Chiefs 2 3 0 17 17 bye
New York Giants 3 3 0 18 14 Tough injury for Victor Cruz as the Eagles just pounded the Giants.
Buffalo Bills 3 3 0 19 19 Got hammered by the newly energized Patriots.
Pittsburgh Steelers 3 3 0 20 15 Ha ha ha, love seeing the Steelers take their lumps.
Houston Texans 3 3 0 21 18 J.J. Watt is reason enough to watch the Texans play. He gives so much effort every play.
New Orleans Saints 2 3 0 22 22 bye
Atlanta Falcons 2 4 0 23 21 The Falcons defense continues to play sub par. Three big losses in a row.
Miami Dolphins 2 3 0 24 23 Tough loss late, but very sad for Knowshon Moreno.
Tennessee Titans 2 4 0 25 29 Blocked field goal for the win was big for Sammie Hill.
Minnesota Vikings 2 4 0 26 28 Rookie qb showed up for Teddy Bridgewater.
St. Louis Rams 1 4 0 27 25 The Rams defense is not what we thought they were.
Washington Redskins 1 5 0 28 27 QB issues and terrible idea to have Native Americans as guests in the booth.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 1 4 0 29 26 This defense is bad, even after all the money spent in free agency.
New York Jets 1 5 0 30 30 The Jets need to really think about the QB position for the future.
Oakland Raiders 0 5 0 31 32 It looked like the rookie Derek Carr was going to lead the Raiders to victory over the very good Chargers. They fell short in the final drive with a pick.
Jacksonville Jaguars 0 6 0 32 31 Will the Jags go winless?
