The Cincinnati Bengals lost Jayson DiManche to injured reserve this week, and they've now found his replacement. The team announced the signing of linebacker Chris Carter on Wednesday, putting the roster at 53 men.
Carter, a fourth-year NFL player (6-1, 248; Fresno State), entered the NFL in 2011 as a fifth-round draft choice of Pittsburgh and played 29 games with four starts for the Steelers in 2011-2013. He was waived by the Steelers at the conclusion of the 2014 preseason, and he signed on Sept. 10 with the Indianapolis Colts. He has 30 career tackles and one pass defensed.
Carter played for the Colts on Sept. 28 vs. Tennessee and was inactive for four other games. He was waived by Indianapolis on Oct. 6. His addition gives Cincinnati seven linebackers, though Vontaze Burfict could be out again this week, which would leave the Bengals with just six active against the Steelers.
