The Pittsburgh Steelers activated outside linebacker Jarvis Jones from the team’s Injured Reserve Designated for Return List on Saturday. To make room for him, it was announced today that the team placed former starting cornerback Cortez Allen on the team’s Reserve/Injured List.
Jones, a second-year linebacker, started each of the team’s first three games of 2014 and totaled 14 tackles (seven solo) along with 2 sacks and a forced fumble, before suffering an injury during the team’s Week 3 game at Carolina. He was placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured; Designated for Return List on September 23.
Allen appeared in each of the team’s first 11 games (seven starts) this season and matched a single-season career-high with two interceptions, contributing 41 tackles (36 solo) and 11 pass breakups. He's been benched in favor of William Gay and Antwon Blake over the past month, so the loss of Allen isn't exactly a bad one for Pittsburgh.
