2014 NFL Draft Position Rankings

Mike Mayock treats us to his pre-combine player rankings by position.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

So this is the pre-combine position rankings from Mike Mayock. All this really entails is his guess about where these players fall on draft day. What makes it interesting is seeing the rankings in his mind by position. I assume this is one way that teams break out their boards to see best players available at each position (kind of like page two of your fantasy draft notes).

Teams also evaluate players based on fitting into their systems so often times even if a player has a consensus higher ranking than another (cough cough Eddie Lacy), another player may jump them in the draft (see Bernard, Giovani).

So based on the Bengals needs I have the Corners, Defensive Ends and Offensive Tackles listed, to see the rest click through to the article.

Cornerback

1. Darqueze Dennard, Michigan State

2. Justin Gilbert, Oklahoma State

3. Kyle Fuller, Virginia Tech

4. Jason Verrett, TCU

5. Bradley Roby, Ohio State

Defensive end

1. Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina

2. Kony Ealy, Missouri

3. Dee Ford, Auburn

4. Scott Crichton, Oregon State

5. Trent Murphy, Stanford

Offensive tackle

1. Jake Matthews, Texas A&M

2. Greg Robinson, Auburn

3. Taylor Lewan, Michigan

4. Zack Martin, Notre Dame

5. Cyrus Kouandjio, Alabama

There are 15 players listed above and I think as Bengals fans we would be stoked with almost all of them. So names that I would love to see in stripes are Jake Matthews, Darqueze Dennard and Kony Ealy. Who are some of the players you would be excited to see holding the Bengals jersey on draft day?
