NFL free agency 2014: Cornerback options for the Bengals

Even if the Bengals do not make a major move in free agency, they are at least discussing the possibility of adding a cornerback. Who would make sense to bring in?

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals need some help in the secondary. Terrence Newman and Adam Jones played admirably filling in for Leon Hall last season. Dre Kirkpatrick is still coming into his own so the Bengals could get stronger at the position. They could try and do that in free agency.

Below is the full list of available corners. However we all know the Bengals are not going to pay the top dollar that some of these guys are going to command. I would take guys like Aqib Talib, Alterraun Verner and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie off the list as their asking prices are probably going to be pretty steep.

Two guys I really like are Brent Grimes and Will Blackmon. Both guys are not yet 30 and are decent corners. Blackmon has the kind of attitude that you want in a corner, but was a nickel guy last season. In the game against the Titans when the Jaguars were under-performing to say the least, he made a bold prediction. He predicted getting a turnover and giving Gus Bradley his first win. In a strip sack of Ryan Fitzpatrick, he did just that.

Grimes is an interesting choice too. At times he has been a shut down corner. He could fill the second corner spot this season and several more if needed. How would you feel about having two corners with achilles tear history though?

If you ran the Bengals, would you sign a free agent corner? If so, who is your guy?
