Jason Hatcher signs with Redskins; Lamarr Woodley to Raiders

Two more notable free agents are off the market after the Raiders signed Lamarr Woodley, while Jason Hatcher signed with the Redskins.

The Washington Redskins are signing defensive tackle Jason Hatcher away from the Dallas Cowboys.

Hatcher was the best pass-rushing interior lineman in football last year (thanks to Geno Atkins being out), and the Redskins desperately needed to upgrade their putrid defense.

The Cowboys weren't exactly any better on that side of the ball, but it wasn't by any fault of Hatcher, who led the Cowboys with 11 sacks last season. He did not become a full-time starter until 2011. As a 3-4 end, he recorded a combined 8.5 sacks in ’11 and ’12.

He'd received interest form the Seattle Seahawks, Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans, but Washington apparently had more to offer than those teams.

After being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers, linebacker Lamarr Woodley is heading to the black hole:

Woodley, who had three years remaining on a six-year, $61.5 million contract, was scheduled to earn $8 million and count $13.6 million against the salary cap in 2014.

By designating him for a June 2 release, Woodley will only count $5.59 million against their cap this year and $8.58 million in 2015. He's appeared in just 27 games since the middle of the 2011 season while getting just nine sacks.
