Elbert Mack works out with Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals have had several free agents in for visits over the past week, but none of them were defensive backs. With cornerback being a glaring need coming into the offseason, the Bengals figure to at least kick the tires on a few veteran DBs.

According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, they've given cornerback Elbert Mack

The Cincinnati Bengals worked out veteran defensive back Elbert Mack, according to a league source.

Mack, 27, had eight tackles last season in eight games for the Houston Texans.

For his career, he has 111 tackles and six interceptions.

In 2012, he intercepted an Eli Manning pass and returned it 73 yards for a touchdown while playing for the New Orleans Saints.

The former Troy cornerback has a previous stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Mack has played in 73 career games, but only started in six of them. He has 17 career pass deflections and six interceptions.

Last year with the Texans, he was relegated to just special teams, and he received on +2.0 grade on kickoff coverage by Pro Football Focus.

If the team were to sign Mack, he sounds like a replacement for the departed Brandon Ghee after he signed with the San Diego Chargers.
