After missing out on James Starks, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still attempting to find another complimentary running back to play behind Le'Veon Bell. They brought in Maurice Jones-Drew for a visit this past week, but he didn't receive a contract offer.
According to Aaron Wilson of National Football Post, the Steelers are slated to host LeGarrette Blount on Friday, and the Baltimore Ravens could get a visit soon too:
Originally scheduled to visit the Steelers on Sunday night and Monday, Blount is now scheduled to visit the AFC North franchise on Friday after the meetings have concluded.
This way, Blount will get to meet with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Kevin Colbert, who are attending the meetings.
The Patriots have maintained interest in Blount throughout the free agent process, and there are other NFL teams interested in addition to the Steelers and Patriots, including the Baltimore Ravens, according to sources. No deal is imminent at this time for Blount.
Blount rushed for 772 yards and seven touchdowns with the Pats in 2013. In four NFL seasons, he's rushed for 2,711 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Given his age (27) and lack of tread on his tires (579 carries in four seasons), he's arguably as good as any RB available right now.
