NFL Rumors and Transactions: Raiders nab Maurice Jones-Drew

The latest news and rumors around the NFL.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports there's "a good chance" Maurice Jones-Drew gets a deal done with the Oakland Raiders.

It was reported earlier this week MJD was looking at the Jets, Dolphins, Patriots and Steelers as potential landing spots. Because the Dolphins have agreed to sign Denver RB Knowshon Moreno, it likely takes them out of the mix for Jones-Drew. It appears the Raiders are the team to beat for his services.

New Raiders QB Matt Schaub cuts pay to $8 million for 2014.
Schaub will earn a fully-guaranteed base salary of $4.5 million in 2014, along with a guaranteed roster bonus of $3.5 million. The other $3 million comes with incentives that hinge on factors like a Pro Bowl appearance, playing time, playoffs, and a Super Bowl appearance (don't bank on that one).

In 2015, Schaub will earn a $5.5 million base salary and earn another $3 million via the same incentive factors. Schaub also had the last year of the prior contract voided, making him a free agent in 2016.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports Pro Bowl DT Vince Wilfork has restructured his contract with the Patriots.

The new deal will now pay him $22.5 million over the next three years. Time and money can heal a lot of wounds, and after Wilfork demanded to be released, all appears sunshine and roses between the two sides. If he can return to full health in 2014, he'll remain one of the league's best interior lineman.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed QB Mark Sanchez to backup Nick Foles in 2014.

After missing the entire 2013 season due to a torn shoulder labrum, this might be Sanchez's last chance to show he's still a capable NFL QB. His last two seasons as a starter for the Jets left a lot of people wondering if he was even that good anymore.
