When the Cincinnati Bengals are featured on Hard Knocks, it's always awesome. To get an inside look at the personalities and relationships that you normally wouldn't see is a treasure. We've had two opportunities (2009 and 2013) so far and maybe there will be a third one day. Just don't expect it any time soon.
After having so much difficulty finding a team in recent years, the league passed a rule that would force someone to participate in Hard Knocks if there were no volunteers. There are exemptions. If a team has appeared on Hard Knocks in the past ten years, has a new head coach or made the playoffs once in the past two years, then the NFL won't volunteer that team for the show. Cincinnati could be excluded through 2023 if they don't volunteer -- and that doesn't include coaching changes or their postseason successes ten years from now.
However, if the Bengals wanted to volunteer, they could.
According to Pro Football Talk, that leaves eight teams that the NFL could force to participate: the Buffalo Bills, the Chicago Bears, the Arizona Cardinals, the New York Giants, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Oakland Raiders, the St. Louis Rams and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
As Bengals fans, of those eight, who would you like to see?
