Cincy Jungle Writer's Mock Draft: Chicago Bears on the clock

Next up are the Chicago Bears. After a late-season collapse cost them a spot in the playoffs last year, who will the Beats select to help them get over the hump in the NFC North?

Mickey: Bears select Timmy Jernigan, DT, Florida State

This is the offseason of the D line so far for the Bears and the first round pick continues that trend. Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston and Willie Young were all added this offseason, but the interior is still a concern. Adding Jernigan and his ability to move lineman into the pocket and disrupt will help the Bears defense.

Anthony: Bears select Ha'Sean "Ha Ha" Clinton-Dix, Safety, Alabama

This is another pick that could go a variety of ways, including corner or defensive tackle. Regardless, the Bears need some help at the back end of their defense. Craig Steltz, Danny McCrae and Chris Conte currently comprise Chicago's safety corps. With aging corners on the edges, an aggressive safety could help mask that and contribute to the turnover-prone nature of the Bears defense.

Clinton-Dix is a solid all-around safety that had decent numbers last season. Those numbers likely would have been even better had he not been suspended for two games in October for violating team rules.

Jason: Bears take Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

The Bears upgrade their offensive line with the best tackle on the board in Taylor Lewan. He's a mauler in the run game and will be able to hold up in the NFC North against the likes of Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers and Ezekial Ansah.

Lewan started all 39 games at LT 2011-13, winning the Big Ten Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year award his last two seasons.
