Earlier this week I reported that insiders informed me the Minnesota Vikings hope to select one of the higher rated linebackers early in round one (Khalil Mack being their preference) then grab their quarterback in round two. Zach Mettenberger being their signal caller of choice. Since then more sources have confirmed my report, verifying the team is high on Mettenberger who they believe is a perfect fit for Norv Turner's system.
Rumors leaked earlier in the week that the Vikings had their eyes on Mettenberger, and Minnesota may believe the LSU signal caller is the best fit for new offensive coordinator Norv Turner.
The only reason Mettenberger hasn't been mentioned as a late-first or earl-second round pick is because of his torn ACL suffered in the final regular season game.
Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski believes Mettenberger is the second-best quarterback in this draft. He rates Mettenberger ahead of Johnny Manziel, who won the 2012 Heisman Trophy, and Teddy Bridgewater, who has been mentioned as a possible No. 1 pick overall.
Mettenbeger has been mocked to the Bengals a couple of times this offseason, but those were in the fourth round or later. It looks as though NFL teams aren't worried about his torn ACL, which means he should go somewhere on Day 2.
