The NBA Draft Lottery is tonight, and 14 teams will each have a chance to claim the No. overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Realistically, only about 8 teams have any real shot of claiming the top pick, but nevertheless, this kind of system helps minimize the number of teams willing to tank their season away in hopes of landing a high pick.
The NFL is more straightforward though, awarding the top pick to the team with the worst record, and so on with each pick thereafter.
