Next up are the San Diego Chargers. Who will they select to help them overcome the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos in the competitive AFC West?
Anthony: Chargers take Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
The Chargers need a big nose tackle to anchor their 3-4 defensive scheme and Nix is the best fit on the board at No.25. Nix is a bit of a gamble because of injury issues and whatnot, but if he pays off he'll be dominant. The Chargers were a bit of a surprise last year, but they need help in various areas on defense. Cornerback Jason Verrett would likely be in play here as well.
Jason: Chargers take Jason Verrett, CB, TCU
The best cornerback on the board may be the most NFL-ready of any corner in this year's class. Verrett immediately earns a starting spot in the Chargers' weak secondary, and gives them another player to help slow down Peyton Manning and the high-flying Broncos offense.
He's the perfect man to matchup with Wes Welker in the slot, and Verrett could end up becoming one of the best slot CBs in the NFL in time.
Mickey: Chargers take Jason Verrett, CB, TCU
The Chargers defense is young but needs a serious cornerback to improve. Verrett falling to them makes this pick easy. Very comfortable playing an area and will bait a QB and break on the ball. Very good at maneuvering for position and will help in run support. The Chargers always seem to have an offense that can move the ball and will look to improve upon a defense that was not very good last season.
