Cincy Jungle Writer's mock draft: New Orleans Saints on the clock

The latest edition of the Cincy Jungle Writer's Mock Draft is here. Be sure to keep up with all of the picks in a out stream page.

Next up are the New Orleans Saints. After a big offseason in which they've added big-name free agents like Jairus Byrd, hitting a homerun with this pick could make them a true Super Bowl contender.

Jason: Saints take Dee Ford, DE/OLB, Auburn

Rob Ryan is salivating at the mouth to get a pass-rusher like Dee Ford to bring into his blitz-heavy defense. Ford fits perfectly into the Saints' 3-4 scheme as an outside linebacker.

Having lost longtime pass-rusher Will Smith, the Saints need to add another one in this draft, and Ford fits the bill. This past season, Ford notched 10.5 sacks to go with 14.5 tackles-for-loss.

Anthony: Saints take Ryan Shazier, OLB, Ohio State

The Saints probably could use some wide receiver help, but seeing a versatile guy like Shazier still on the board would likely cause Rob Ryan to foam at the mouth. In a 3-4 defense, Shazier might be a rover-like player on the outside because of his ability to get to the quarterback and be fast enough to cover most of the field. His "'tweener" size causes him to fall a bit, but he would be a nice addition in The Big Easy.

Mickey: Saints take Dee Ford, DE/OLB, Auburn

The Saints like to get after opposing quarterbacks. They ranked top 5 in the NFl last season for sacks and would love to build upon that presence up front. They may have some other needs, but if a player like Ford drops to them it is going to be hard for them to not pull the trigger.

Ford may have cemented his first round status with his play in the Senior Bowl, but some believe this would still be a reach. Rob Ryan probably barks the loudest to bring Ford into New Orleans.
