The San Francisco 49ers are in need of some depth at the receiver position, and instead of relying on the draft to find that, they've opted for the trade route instead.
Once the Buffalo Bills struck a deal this offseason to acquire Mike Williams from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it looked like Stevie Johnson's days in Buffalo became numbered.
Once they drafted Sammy Watkins with the fourth-overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, that all but ensured he would be cut or traded very soon.
He's now heading to San Fran to join the 49ers, per Adam Schefter:
Filed to ESPN: 49ers trading a conditoonal 2015 4th-round pick to Buffalo for WR Stevie Johnson, per sources. Pick can become a 3rd.

Johnson's cap hit in 2014 is $8.5 million after catching just 52 passes for 597 yards and three touchdowns in 2013.
