Jeremy Hill contract breakdown; Bengals Running backs making about $6 million

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Jeremy Hill may have been drafted high, but he'll still be just the fourth-highest paid running back on the Bengals roster this year. BenJarvus Green-Ellis ($3 mil.), Giovani Bernard ($1.19 mil.) and even Cedric Peerman ($1 mil.) will have a higher cap hit than Hill's $682,473 as a rookie.

Along with James Wilder Jr. and Rex Burkhead, if the six Bengals RBs were to somehow make it onto the 53-man roster, they'd still make just around a combined $6 million, according to Spotrac.

If the Bengals were to cut Green-Ellis and one other back to carry just four into the regular season, Cincinnati would be paying just around $2.5 million to RBs this year.

Perspective: 17 teams are paying a single RB more than that in 2014. Whether it was Cedric Benson, Rudi Johnson, over Marvin Lewis-tenure in Cincinnati, he Bengals have rarely paid RBs big money.

That's probably not changing anytime soon, unless Giovani develops into a star who's capable of carrying the workload. Then again, if the Bengals thought he was capable of that, would they have spent a second-round pick on Hill?

Here is Coley Harvey's breakdown on Hill's contract:
