Andrew Whitworth and Marvin Jones yet to make training camp debuts

The Bengals have a number of key players still on the Active Physically Unable to Perform list. Starting offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, receiver Marvin Jones and tight end Jermaine Gresham were not activated Thursday from PUP, meaning they've missed all seven camp sessions to this point.

With Whitworth, the issue is more clear. He suffered a calf strain during conditioning prior to the first day of camp. He's been at every practice working on the sideline, and the belief is he could return any day now if needed.

The same cannot be said for Jones and Gresham. Jones was expected to practice the first week of camp, but he's yet to be activated. The ailment was listed as an ankle, which he injured while working out with Andy Dalton after OTA's were completed earlier this summer, according to Pro Football Talk.

As for Gresham, he reportedly underwent hernia surgery this offseason, which makes his return date unknown. He missed all of OTAs as well, so it's likely the surgery came around April, but that still doesn't give a clear return date. Marvin Lewis originally said he expected Gresham to be ready for camp.

As for Andre Smith, he's in the NFL's concussion protocol after getting dinged on Monday. This is only the second practice he'll have missed.
