AJ McCarron, Marvin Jones and Jermaine Gresham still out

The Bengals hit the field for Day eight of training camp on Friday, but they did so without Andre Smith, Andrew Whitworth, Marvin Jones, AJ McCarron and Jermaine Gresham. Other than Smith, the rest are still on the Active Physically Unable to Perform list. Smith is undergoing the NFL concussion protocol after getting dinged in Monday's practice.

None of the players who sat were expected to practice Friday, which was a fully-padded practice, making it one of the more physical sessions in camp. You don't bring guys off the PUP for their first practice back to be a high-contact one like this.

That said, it's still concerning that Jones has yet to practice after it was reported Jones was expected to practice when camp first opened.

As for McCarron, he's dealing with a shoulder issue that has limited his velocity to this point. He could probably practice, but the Bengals don't want him making throws until he's fully healthy. He has been throwing in practice and slowly progressing back to full health.

Mike Pollak was also out with a day off, as he and Clint Boling continue to rotate days on and off.
