Marshall Newhouse misses practice; Dre Kirkpatrick still out

With Campbell and McCarron out, Matt Scott will continue to get the bulk of the backup QB repos, further increasing his odds of making the final 53-man roster.

The Bengals hit the practice field Wednesday for Day 15 of training camp. Not participating was AJ McCarron (shoulder), Jason Campbell (bruised throwing arm), Sean Porter (undisclosed), Tyler Eifert (rest), Dontay Moch (undisclosed), Leon Hall (rest), Dre Kirkpatrick (hip), Robert Geathers (rest), Marshall Newhouse (shoulder), Clint Boling (knee) and Mike Pollak (knee).

With Campbell and McCarron out, Matt Scott will continue to get the bulk of the backup QB reps, further increasing his odds of making the final 53-man roster.

As for Campbell, he's inching closer to the roster bubble if he can't play this week vs. the New York Jets. That would give him two more preseason games - at the Arizona Cardinals and home vs. the Indianapolis Colts - to solidify his spot on the final 53-man roster.

As for Newhouse, he suffered a shoulder injury injury late in Tuesday's practice that required him to be carted off the field. It's still unclear what exactly the injury was, or how long he'll be out.

This is the second straight practice Kirkpatrick has missed due to a hip issue he's dealing with. He did tell ESPN's Coley Harvey he expects to play saturday vs. the Jets.
