Football is back, as the New York Giants take on the Buffalo Bills in the annual Hall of Fame Game. The two teams will kick off the 2014 preseason Sunday, August 3 at 8:00 PM ET on NBC. The game also will be broadcast on Westwood One. Both teams are coming off losing seasons, and looking to get off to a good start in the preseason.
The game will be played at Pro Football Hall of Fame Field at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio the day after the Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014 – Derrick Brooks, Ray Guy, Claude Humphrey, Walter Jones, Andre Reed, Michael Strahan, and Aeneas Williams – are formally enshrined.
With limited reps for the veteran starters, the backups and rookies will be seeing the majority of the snaps under the lights. That's good news for anyone hoping to see new Bills receiver Sammy Watkins. The fourth-overall pick of this year's draft is expected to be one of the biggest offensive performers of any rookie this year.
As for the Giants, their top pick, receiver Odell Beckham will miss this game as he battles a hamstring injury. Running back David Wilson (neck), receiver/kick returner Trindon Holliday (hamstring), tight end Xavier Grimble (hamstring), defensive tackle Mike Patterson (shoulder), offensive lineman John Jerry (knee), defensive end Spencer Adkins (groin) and cornerback Travis Howard (knee) are also injured and could miss the game.
As for the Bills, offensive tackle Chris Williams (toe), offensive tackle Chris Hairston (back), running back Fred Jackson (Leg), tight end Tony Moeaki (hamstring), safety Kenny Ladler (hamstring) tight end Chris Cragg (illness) are dealing with injuries.
