Bengals vs. Colts 1st-half Recap and 2nd Half Open Thread

John Grieshop

The Bengals lead the Colts at halftime, 7-0. None of the Bengals' veterans played in this game, as Andy Dalton, Andrew Whitworth,  AJ Green and others be healthy scratches.

The star of the first half was rookie running back Jeremy Hill. His 41-yard reception on a dump-off play got the Bengals offense going in the 2nd QTR after a slow start. The Bengals would score on that drive after Jason Campbell fired a pass Ryan Hewitt in the back of the end zone, but the pass was deflected by Colts linebacker Andy Studebaker, but went right in to the waiting arms of Hewitt.

That was the good.

The bad was the continued amount of penalties the Bengals are committing this preseason. Cincinnati committed 5 for 45 yards in the first half.

The ugly was Jeremy Hill's elbow injury. He was hit hard on his right elbow after catching a pass, and immediately went to the bench and got looked at by the trainers while hunched over in pain.

Hill went to the locker room to be examined, and the Bengals called his return "probable".

We'll be holding the second-half open thread here, so come talk about the rest of the game here.
