UPDATE

Though Dalton will make quite a bit, his deal is structured to pay him only $96 million over the the six years added on to his contract.**

The Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback Andy Dalton have reached an agreement on a contract extension, according to multiple media reports. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to break news of the new deal that could pay Dalton over $100 million.

That's $19.2 million per year, so the Bengals are looking at quite a bit of cash committed to Dalton over the next six years.

In 48 career games, Dalton has completed 992/1,630 passes (60.9%) for 11,360 yards (7.0 yards per attempt) with 80 touchdown vs. 49 interceptions. He's rushed 145 times for 455 yards (3.1 yards per carry) with seven touchdowns.

In 2013, Dalton completed 363/586 passes (61.9%) for 4,293 yards (7.3 ypa) with 33 touchdowns and 20 interceptions while rushing 61 times for 183 yards (3.0 ypc) and two scores.

According to Pro Football Focus, Dalton's 2.2 grade last year ranked him 17th out of 24 quarterbacks that played in at least 50 percent of their team's offensive snaps. Dalton is 30-18 in the regular season, but 0-3 in the postseason.

This is the biggest deal the Bengals have given a player ever in terms of salary per season. In 2005, Cincinnati added extended Carson Palmer's deal by adding six years to a deal that still had three to go, providing Palmer with a chance to make $118.75 million over the life of the contract.

If Schefter's report is true, Dalton could almost make that in just six seasons.
