When the Cincinnati Bengals announced their 53-man roster, it was a small surprise that Cobi Hamilton wasn't on the roster. When the practice squad was announced, it was shocking to see the second-year receiver's name not on it, especially since no other NFL team claimed him.
Perhaps, there was a plan all along to bring Hamilton back, as the team has now added him to the practice squad, according to the NFL's official transaction report.
Credit to Jay Morrison for being the first to spot this.
It's kind of odd the team hasn't announced it yet. Still, it's a move that should have been made. The 2013 sixth-round pick out of Arkansas hasn't lived up to his potential to this point, but he's done enough to earn a spot on the practice squad.
Hamilton had his best preseason game in Week 4 vs. the Indianapolis Colts, highlighted by his 50-yard catch-and-run for the score.
There's also a small chance Cincinnati places Marvin Jones on IR Recall, which would free up a spot on the 53-man roster, allowing Hamilton to join the team. Jones reportedly broke a bone in his fifth metatarsal this preseason that will sideline him at least for the first month of the 2014 NFL season.
There's also the chance James Wright misses this week with a lingering concussion.
