Cincinnati Bengals cornerback A.J. Green has strained ligaments "at the bottom of his foot, sort of between the middle of his foot and his toe," NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said on "The Aftermath" program on the NFL Network. The injury, Rapoport said, is "not a major injury".
This is similar to what Marvin Lewis said during his Monday afternoon presser, saying that Green "will be out there when he's out there, but I don't think it's long term."
The Bengals are hopeful that Green will play this Sunday, Rapoport concluded.
We think that the injury occurred during a Giovani Bernard run with 8:49 remaining in the first quarter. Cincinnati has first and 10 from the Falcons 42-yard line. Green is motioning from right to left and targets Falcons cornerback Robert Alford. When the play was over, you can tell that Green is a little frustrated as he motions to the sidelines that he needs to come out.
