The Bengals got great news Tuesday for their final practice before heading off into the Bye Week. Typically, having a week off this early in the season isn't ideal, but with so many players banged up, it couldn't have come at a better time for Cincinnati.
Wide receiver Marvin Jones and running back Rex Burkhead returned to practice Tuesday for the first time since the regular season opened. Jones practiced just once in the preseason before having surgery to repair a broken bone in his fifth metatarsal.
As for Burkhead, he suffered a knee injury in the second preseason game vs. New York, which sidelined him for the past month.Linebacker Sean Porter also returned to practice Tuesday. He's been battling hip and hamstring issues for much of the preseason and beginning of the regular season.
Pro Bowl linebacker Vontaze Burfict was on the field but did not practice Tuesday, which was expected. The belief is he'll get the Bye Week off before returning to practice on either Wednesday or Thursday of next in week in preparation for the Patriots game.
