Bengals Tight End Tyler Eifert Leaves Ravens Game With Elbow Injury

The second-year tight end was having a great start to the game before leaving the game late in the first quarter.

Hue Jackson's new offense has been moving the ball and churning up yards and tight end Tyler Eifert was a beneficiary of a lot of the production. Unfortunately, the production hasn't led to many points for the Bengals. Toward the end of the first quarter, Cincinnati has dominated, but only leads 6-0.

The bigger story lies with Eifert after he made his third catch of the quarter. After fighting for extra yards after a nice catch in the red zone, the second-year tight end writhed on the ground grasping his elbow. As CBS cut to commercial, it didn't look good at the brief glance they gave.

Dave Lapham (and Anthony Cosenza) conjectured early on that Eifert may have dislocated his elbow (speculation, of course), while CBS play-by-play man Spero Dedes called the injury "gruesome" and the network didn't show a replay. He left the field to the locker room with trainers and his return is deemed "doubtful". Not a good omen for a guy who missed most of the preseason with a shoulder issue.

Reports also said that he had his elbow popped back into place on the field. We'll have more on his status as we hear details. Eifert left the game with three catches for 37 yards.
