The New York Jets have found their next head coach, and they're not going far from the style Rex Ryan brought them the past five seasons. The team is hiring Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, per multiple media reports.
Bowles has served as Arizona's DC for the past two seasons, and the Cardinals fielded the league's No. 6 total defense in 2013, before injuries and suspensions decimated his 2014 club. He worked for the Browns, Cowboys, Dolphins, and Eagles before joining the Cardinals in 2013.
Bowles, 51, is coming home, as he's from Elizabeth, New Jersey and played his college ball at Temple, so he knows the area very well. He was believed to be a finalist for the Falcons' head-coaching vacancy, and was set to get a second interview with them.
It looks like the Jets got wind of that and moved quickly to make sure they got the guy they wanted. Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was also thought to be heavily in the running for New York's vacancy.
