Bengals unlikely to draft a linebacker in the first round

New, comments

Probably a bit obvious but the Cincinnati Bengals aren't expected to be in the market for a first-round linebacker. Which is fine and good because drafting a linebacker hasn't been their strongest attribute.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Bengals could end up drafting a linebacker in the 2015 NFL draft, despite historical evidence that drafting linebackers hasn't necessarily been Cincinnati's strongest attribute. Don't expect one until, at least, mid-round, says the mothership.

The Bengals actually took a USC linebacker who played in the 2008 Senior Bowl in the first round, but Keith Rivers’ career never got off the ground because of injuries. The Bengals aren’t looking to take an outside or inside linebacker that high this time, but some of the inside guys figure to be available in the middle rounds or so.

The truth is that you really don't want the Bengals drafting a linebacker.
