Super Bowl 2015: Odds, Betting Trends, Picks and Best Prop Bets

We take a look at what the oddsmakers and others have to say about Super Bowl 49, and examine the best options for this year's prop bets.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Super Bowl 49 will feature two of the NFL's premier franchises with the Seattle Seahawks facing the New England Patriots on Sunday. Between the two, there are a combined eight Super Bowl appearances and four titles since 2002.

This is also a matchup of budding dynasties. New England is looking to revive it's dynasty of the 2000s, which saw the franchise win three championships. They haven't raised the Lombardi since 2005.

The Seahawks are looking to establish a dynasty after winning Super Bowl 48 one year ago. Behind the Legion of Boom and a run-heavy offense featuring Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch, this is easily the league's most physical team. They impose their will on opponents better than nearly anyone, but can they do the same against New England?

Vegas doesn't see it that way. The OddsShark computer is siding with the Patriots to win their fourth Super Bowl title, but only by one point with an over/under of 47.5. Here are some betting trends as well from OddsShark:

  • Seattle is 6-1-1 ATS in its last 8 games
  • Seattle is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games
  • Seattle is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games when playing New England
  • Seattle is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games when playing New England
  • New England is 12-2 SU in its last 14 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 6 of New England's last 8 games
  • New England is 2-6 ATS in its last 8 games when playing Seattle
  • New England is 2-6 SU in its last 8 games when playing Seattle

Here at SB Nation, the guys took their best shots and went with Seattle over New England by a 4-3 ratio. The eight analysts at CBS Sports are also favoring New England by a 5-3 margin. At ESPN, nine of 13 analysts are picking the Patriots to come out victorious.

My Pick: Seahawks squeak by with a 23-20 win
