Nugent’s clutch kicks cap comeback

Mike Nugent didn’t even look, and that was probably a good thing for his sake. While the rest of the 65,004 fans at sold-out Paul Brown Stadium held their breath and bent their bodies Sunday afternoon as they watched the ball continue to hook on a 42-yard journey that ended with a clank off the left upright before falling through to lift the Cincinnati Bengals to a 27-24 overtime win, Nugent held his gaze downward, directed at the spot where he had just swung his right foot.

Week 5 Takeaways: Separation Anxiety

The same old Bengals appear to have learned some new tricks. Unsurprisingly derided after falling behind 24-7 to the Seahawks at home during the third quarter, Cincinnati launched into a stirring comeback and scored 20 unanswered points, eventually using a Mike Nugent field goal off the left upright to come away with a 27-24 victory in overtime.

NFL morning after: Andy Dalton, MVP candidate

In a big game on Sunday, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton came through in the clutch. I know, I know, Dalton has had some high-profile playoff failures, and therefore we're supposed to laugh at the notion that he's a guy who can put a team on his back and win.

Past Bengals teams 'would have flopped' down 17, but not this one

Pete Carroll "baffled a little bit" by Seahawks collapse

Pete Carroll was being dutiful, saying the blame for the Seahawks' collapse at Cincinnati and fall to 2-3 "starts with me." That just means, basically, that he's the first person to not understand what's wrong with them right now.

Browns' Josh McCown, Bengals' Andy Dalton highlight NFL Week 5

Week 5 featured no shortage of wait, what? developments, from the late heroics of Andy Dalton and Josh McCown to Matthew Stafford's benching. Plus, Miami's motivating new leader, a 78-year-old INT combo and more

I Still Cannot Believe The Bengals Won That Game.

As Bengals fans, we are good at a lot of things. Telling Cleveland jokes. Hating Joe Montana. Lying about Freezer Bowl attendance. Those are just a few. What we are not good at is expecting the best. Fear of the other shoe dropping has almost been beaten into us to the point that to be a Bengals fan is to assume the worst.

Andy Dalton leads Bengals to statement win over Seahawks in overtime

What if Mike Nugent’s 42-yard field-goal try had bounced off the upright and not between them, and it was the Seattle Seahawks and not the Cincinnati Bengals escaping with an overtime win Sunday? How much would that change our perception of quarterback Andy Dalton's team?

Hue Jackson's mission

NFL Media columnist Michael Silver explores how Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson continues to push the offense through adversity and his goal to remove the stigma that the team can't win when it matters most.
