Paul Brown, the man who began both franchises playing in Thursday’s riverfront national showcase at, of course, Paul Brown Stadium coached the last of his 326 games 40 years ago this season. And he died a generation ago in 1991, seven months after the Bengals won the old the AFC Central beating the Browns on the last day of the season.
Bengals Forecast: First look at Browns game
The Cleveland Browns are expected to start Johnny Manziel ahead of injured quarterback Josh McCown on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. McCown injured his ribs during last week’s loss to Arizona, and he hurt his shoulder two weeks ago in St. Louis. The Browns will not list their official injury report until later today following their evening practice.
Why Cincinnati Bengals are for real
After Sunday's 16-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cincinnati Bengals are off to the best start (7-0) in team history. They are in command of the AFC North and now have a better chance to go 16-0 than miss the playoffs. But we've seen the Bengals do well in the regular season before. They've made the playoffs in four straight seasons -- tied for the third-longest active streak in the NFL -- only to be knocked out in the wild-card round each year.
Get Ready For The Bengals To Be Hated.
Forget whether Burfict's hit of Bell was dirty, which it wasn't. Forget whether he was out of line for celebrating - if he was indeed celebrating - after said hit. And forget the long line of Bengals injuries - from Carson Palmer, to Keith Rivers, to Kevin Huber - suffered at the hands of their AFC North rivals.
Notes: Maualuga rehabbing; Lewis enjoys Tez's dynamite play
With no sign of right tackle Andre Smith (concussion) on the practice field and middle linebacker Rey Maualuga (calf) on the side rehabbing, normal indications are they won’t be ready for Thursday’s game (8:25 p.m.-NFL Network) against Cleveland at Paul Brown Stadium
Bengals forget 2.0 with eyes on 8-0
Forget your grandfather’s Bengals. Or your aunt’s Bengals. Or your brother’s Bengals. These 7-0 Bengals aren’t even your Bengals as they get ready to play your cranky uncle’s Browns Thursday (8:25 p.m.-NFL Network) at Paul Brown Stadium.
First look: Bengals vs. Browns
Marvin Lewis called the space the Bengals are operating in "uncharted territory" and he’s not wrong – the team has never been 7-0, and no team in AFC North history has ever held a 3.5 game lead in the division this early. The Bengals got to this point with a gutty 16-10 victory in Pittsburgh on Sunday and now return home for their first primetime game of the year.
Dalton, Bengals looking to prove they are true contenders
ESPN Bengals reporter Coley Harvey discusses how eager Bengals players are to prove in Thursday's nationally televised game against the Browns that their 7-0 record is no fluke, and that they are over their past prime-time game disappointments.

If Johnny Manziel starts Thursday, Cincinnati Bengals vow to be ready
The last time Johnny Manziel faced the Cincinnati Bengals, he had a disastrous afternoon. Sacked three times, picked off twice and totaling only 80 yards through the air, the Cleveland Browns quarterback was harassed and hounded by a defense that drew motivation from wanting to make him look like he didn't belong in the NFL. It was Manziel's first career start, and the Bengals certainly didn't want to be the team that was embarrassed by the rookie.
Behind Enemy Lines
Can Manziel step up his game against undefeated Bengals?
With Josh McCown’s status uncertain, the Cleveland Browns may turn to Johnny Manziel to lead the team on their Thursday night road contest against Cincinnati. Neither quarterback has been great this year with McCown at an overall rating of 60.0, while Manziel is not far behind at 53.4.
Cleveland Browns and Broncos talked trade for Joe Thomas, but couldn't agree on compensation
Browns left tackle Joe Thomas wasn't blindsided by a trade to the Broncos when the clock struck four on Tuesday afterall. The Browns and Broncos engaged in trade talks for the eight-time Pro Bowl left tackle, but couldn't strike a deal in the end, a source told cleveland.com.
Ray Farmer of Cleveland Browns says job no less secure than day of hire
Cleveland Browns general manager Ray Farmer said Tuesday he does not believe his job security is any more tenuous than it was upon his hire in February 2014.
Four Downs: Browns rookie Ibraheim Campbell braces for ‘huge opportunity’
For weeks, Ibraheim Campbell was one injury away from significant playing time. Initially, it was a Week 4 injury to Tashaun Gipson that amped up his preparation. Jordan Poyer filled the void while Campbell waited in the proverbial on-deck circle.

Despite Record, Minnesota Vikings Need More from Teddy Bridgewater
At 5-2, the Minnesota Vikings are in position to challenge for a playoff spot. It's rare air for this franchise. Over the past three seasons, Minnesota has twice won just five games. Not only have the Vikings surpassed their recent standards, they are also one of just 11 teams this season with a winning record and one of only eight to have won at least five games.
